In cooperation with the Al-Amal Association for Cancer and Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), IMATEC has maintained and reactivated the linear accelerator at Lattakia Hospital, which had been out of service for two years due to technical malfunctions.
Dr. Firas Hussein, the hospital’s medical director, told the SANA news agency that the machine's shutdown had disrupted radiotherapy treatment for a large number of patients. He emphasized that its reactivation marks a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services, as the machine is expected to serve between 50 and 100 patients daily.
He added that the machine offers advanced radiotherapy technologies, which will help improve the quality of care for cancer patients—particularly given the high demand on specialized centers in other governorates.
